Meet Our Girls

Welcome to the world Esther Tianna Joy and Tivoli Moriah Rain! May God give us the strength and wisdom to raise you to love the Creator, God, who has brought you into this world. 

Yes! I got my two little princesses!


I am so proud of her. Five hours of incredible pain and eight months of carrying the girls through a move across the States and two weeks in Tanzania. I am so blessed by her.

Right now I am so grateful for two healthy daughters and wife. God is so good!

Born at 36 weeks

Esther: Wt - 5 lbs 2 oz, born 8:02am
Tivoli: Wt - 5 lbs 6 oz, born 8:20am 


We were so grateful that my mom could be there to help out. 

The boys were super excited to meet their new sisters...though before long they were more interested in the grapes brought to Carmen for lunch and all the light switches.

Going through the pictures, Carmen and I are having lengthy debates as to who is who. I am convinced that Esther is on the left and Tivoli is on the right...I guess if they are identical the advantage will be the ability to claim the other's pictures uncontested. Believe me, I know.

    Oh this is so sweet! Congratulations!! Thank you for sharing! Carmen delivered my 4th baby at my house in Louisiana when she was working with Thalia Hufton. I'd love to hear the birth story of these sweet girls some time!

Have you ever wondered what manna tasted like during the days of Moses? Well, wonder no more. I have solved the mystery! And with a few potatoes and minimal knifing skills you can replicate this ancient delicacy. First you need to chop them up Get rid of the bad spots (for looks so the wife will eat them) Oh, this potato chopper can be useful. All you need to do to get one is marry off your sister so that you can have a brother in law who appreciates fries as much as you do. Navigating the Shortcuts

Getting to work has been an adventure of its own. Sometimes I drive, but lately I have been walking or riding my bicycle. It is a great  way to go over all the Swahili greetings (there are many) and get some fresh air (or be thoroughly dusted by a large passing vehicle). Many people walk great distances as few own cars and the public transportation does not go everywhere.  Below I have taken a video of my bicycle ride to work. I hope you enjoy! A Trip to "Hobby Lobby"

I needed to pick up a few items for my sewing projects, however, I was not having any success finding what I needed. After asking around I was told of a market that would likely have what I needed. Kariakoo. Not knowing much about this newfound market other than that it is big and in the general direction of downtown, I debated how to go about a trip to "Hobby Lobby". Feeling as if going solo on this expedition was not the best idea, I had been contemplating on who would come with me. It so happened that the day before I was to go I met a lady at a used clothing market while I was looking for the next size for the girls. She helped me find a few items that were tucked away in an obscure corner of the market, walked me through the back neighbourhood, and helped me to the bus stop before going home.
